Session Information:

Maybe you’re gifting your boudoir session to your sweetheart, or maybe you’re practicing a little bit of self-love. Either way, boudoir sessions can feel a bit scary or overwhelming if you’re not sure what to expect. But, there’s nothing to be afraid of! Read on to discover what happens in your boudoir session, as well as a couple of tips to feel more comfortable.

Style

First and foremost, be YOU. You do not need to try to be someone you’re not. Is lingerie not your style? No problem! Throw on your favorite sports bra / cute pajamas / silky robe / or your husband’s button down shirt, and rock your own style, girl! I’ve got you. You don’t need to dress like a Victoria Secret model. Dress in whatever makes you feel comfortable, sexy, and/ or powerful. You may also choose to bring a selected variety and I can help you choose from the selection to make sure you get the most out of your session.

I will talk to you about your personality, your ideas for the session, and the style you’re aiming to achieve, as well as what insecurities you may have, and I will tailor your session around this information. After all, this is all about you! Even if you’re not confident at the start, most women feel amazing and empowered by the end of their session!

Wardrobe

There is no expectation when it comes to your attire! You don’t have to wear sultry outfits and you don’t have to “act” sexy. Some ladies come to their session wanting to pose in sweaters and they ROCK it! So, what you wear for your boudoir session is totally up to you.

When considering an outfit for your boudoir session just ask yourself these questions: 

  1. Does it feel true to you?

  2. Do you love how you look in it?

If you answer yes to both of these questions, the outfit is a winner! Wear it, love it, be true to yourself, and love yourself. Honestly, it can be that simple. There really are no rules when it comes to what to wear for a boudoir session.

Depending on the length of your session, bring 2-3 outfits. You may also choose to bring extras of certain things as well. For example, tights / thigh-highs, accessories such as pearl necklaces, satin or fishnet gloves, a sassy hat, etc. The sky is the limit and we will work with what you have. You don’t need to wear all of it. We can mix and match and choose what we feel is right during your session.

If your man is coming with you, he should aim to be comfortable, but stylish. A nice pair of blue jeans and a white button-down shirt is probably more than enough.

Locations

These types of sessions can take place at your home, at my studio, at a private outdoor location, or in a rented space.

There are historic homes and lofts in Metro Detroit and Grand Rapids that are used specifically for photo-shoots and are for rent by the hour. These locations are beautiful and perfect for these types of sessions. The cost is different for each location and varies depending on time of day, and day of the week. The cost tends to fall between $75 and $175 per hour. Therefore, if you’re unsure of where you’d like to do your session, let’s chat about what you have in mind, and we can go from there.

Posing

We all scour Pinterest for inspiration, and it’s certainly tempting to do the same when researching typical boudoir poses. While those can be helpful for you as a starting point, it takes up so much time having to pose ‘exactly’ like the model … and most times, it doesn’t work out that way. Instead, focus your energy on getting comfortable with the photographer who is directing you. A fluid, flexible shoot will leave you with photos that you’ll love! There are poses that will work well with your shape and your personality. Those are the ones we want to achieve. Your photographer will know how to bring these to life.

Choose Your Favs!

During the Reveal Session, you will have the opportunity to look through your images and choose the ones you love most. Our clients spend anywhere from $500 to $15,000 on their printed products. We offer luxury wall art, portfolio boxes, and prints. It is completely up to you what you buy. You only buy what you love!
